Welcome!

We're thrilled to share our happenings with family and friends across the country. We've been married for almost five years. We moved to Sacramento, CA in May 2007 to begin new careers and a new chapter in our lives together. Since then, we have purchased our first home, adopted another dog (Felix) in addition to Easy, and welcomed our first child, Carter, into the world in 2008. Our second child (sex and name still TBD) will be arriving near Halloween this year. All of these topics will, we're sure, be the subject of future posts. Check back regularly for updates! Our Last Doctor's Appointment

Well, today was our last doctor's appointment. While things have mildly started to progress on Jackie's end, we're likely still facing our induction on Monday at 5:00 am. Carter was quite active at our appointment this morning, and our doctor thinks he's weighing in at about 8 or 8.5 lbs. now. Jackie is hanging in there -- feeling quite uncomfortable and downright miserable at times, but healthy all in all. Wish you all could've seen Dave when one of the nurses popped around the corner with a 6-week old boy in her arms. His face lit up. He talked to the baby for a good 5-10 minutes, too. Needless to say, we're ready and excited to meet our little dude on Monday (or Tuesday or Wednesday -- however long it takes). Keep sending positive vibes in our direction! We'll e-mail, text, and post as things progress next week.

Grandma and Bubba come to town

So this past week Grandma and Bubba came to town. One came to help the other came as part of his "make me a godparent" campaign. Grandma got to go with Jackie to her non-stress test where the nurses monitor the baby and Jackie's heart rate and blood pressure then to the OBGYN's for a weekly check-up and cervix check- good times. Then while Jackie lay on bed rest unable to get around (she's allowed 10 minutes up for every 60 down) Grandma and Dave went kayaking and enjoyed a cool day on the river less than a mile from our house!! [Bubba and I went a couple days before and one of us got scared- guess who?!?!]
Jackie, Grandma and me rewarded ourselves with a trip to Leatherby's, the local catholic family owned creamery that is oh so tasty http://www.leatherbys.com/.
So who's in town next??

Carter screensaver

In case anyone wants a "Baby Carter Moe Koenig" screensaver for their computer!! The bottom picture is him waving.

Aunt Jackie and crazy Uncle Dave

As we get ready for our baby boy, I was looking back at some pictures and appreciating the joys and recent heartaches of being an aunt and uncle. Jackie and I have been s so lucky to watch and learn from our siblings and their children.

This picture of Alexis from February doesn't even do justice to the little girl walking around now. Lilah has already been featured on TV and Tommy is almost driving...or at least it feels like he is about to. And while Will was only with us 39 hours he left a lasting impression in all our hearts and reminded us of the strength of family and marriage to endure and the necessity to live today to the fullest.

I guess I will have to remember to treasure everyday with Carter because they actually do grow up so quickly...haha I am getting old when stuff like that comes out of my mouth.

Dogs Rule

In all the hustle and bustle of the new baby we are having to remember that we already have a few members of the family and they might not quite understand what all the commotion is for!! So I wanted to make sure we gave a shout out to the current two members of our family that have helped keep us grounded over the past 2 years. The second pick is from X-mas and the first pic is from the first couple days after we moved Felix's bed down to the end of our bed next to Easy's. Apparently he is a little obsessed with me and couldn't stand being that far away so he chose some new digs in my laundry basket.
I have a feeling the first couple weeks with Carter around won't be the easiest for either dog, but after that I am sure everyone will get along....

Baby Watch 2008 - 10 Days and Counting

As of today, we are chillin' at home awaiting the arrival of Carter. Ok, in reality? Jackie is on bed rest due to high blood pressure (trying to deal with restlessness, soreness and boredom) and Dave is working from home (doing a great job of managing stress, Jackie on bed rest, two antsy dogs and the knowledge that life is about to change). We're extremely excited and anxious for Carter to join us -- but our stubborn little dude seems intent on taking his time. With this in mind, our doctor has scheduled an induction for Labor Day (ironically), September 1st at 5:00am. The induction is the result of Carter's size: turns out, the Sacramento Koenigs grow large babies (he's currently running about 7.5 lbs.). While we're optimistic that Carter will change his mind and decide to arrive before then, it is still quite interesting to know there's an official date when we will become parents, as well! We'll be sure to keep you posted in the week ahead.
